The Downtown Art Place is a volunteer non-profit organization established in 2013 as a regional visual arts center, dedicated to promoting and sustaining the creation and appreciation of the visual and cultural arts.
The Downtown Art Place is located in the 12,500 square foot historic Velin/Siemens built in 1922. The building houses a fine art gallery and gift shop, dedicated classroom space and artist rental studios where visitors can watch artists create their work.
A work in progress is the development of a pottery/ceramics program, with a separate pottery/ceramics classroom space and kiln room. A major offering is classes for children from toddler to teenage as well as adults year around.

We showcase our member artists throughout the year. Special upcoming events also include a Benefit art show/sale beginning on 14 July through 5 September, 2016,with all proceeds to go to benefit the children of Flint, Michigan , who have been affected by lead exposure. Beginning 14 September through the end of October we will host the entire collection or art from the Porcupine Mountain State Part Artist in Residence program. While this original art will not be for sale, a selection of prints, art printed T-shirts and books will be available.
