HOURS: Monday-Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Closed on Sunday.

The Calumet Art Center, a 501c3 organization, developed as a desire to provide a place for learning and sharing in order to build a strong sense of community through art, culture and history of the Keweenaw.

We offer adults both private and group workshops in clay, sculpture, glass bead making, weaving (16 looms to choose from), copper classes (in the old method), etc. in our studios. We also have Youth Art Programs for elementary, middle and high school students. We have expanded our Youth Art Programs year round and also partner with Carroll College to offer a cross-cultural experience ;Footprints of Our Ancestors ; A Four Day Immersion into the Lifeways of the Anishinaabe to fulfill their general education requirements. Students spend four-days immersed in native traditional teachings, art and history traveling to different sites around the Keweenaw.

Our new stage in the Performance Hall has now allowed us to expand performance art and have hosted several drama, history, and musical performances through CLK Elementary and High Schools, as well as NMU. We also have our writing studio available for visiting or local authors that need comfort and privacy to complete their projects by the week.

Visit our Gallery featuring the work of Ed Gray (clay), Emily Gray Koehler (woodcuts), and other local artists. Our Performance Hall houses the permanent collection of exhibits of artists that have made a significant difference to the art of the Keweenaw: Carol Gorkas, Jan Manniko, Alice Reynolds Colville, Edith Wiard, Edith Marshall.
